Haircutting Class

Haircutting Class,  June 2011
 

This course aimed to teach former refugees basic haircutting skills.  This was requested in a meeting  in 2009 - the meeting involved 40 former refugee women, the Refugee Services Social Worker and Cross-Cultural Worker, and discussed areas the women wanted to learn about and upskill themselves in.

The course was held on Monday afternoon, 27^th June with 18 people attending – both men and women. Chicks and Chaps provided 2 qualified hairdressers, Diane and Kuari, who were great at getting everyone involved.

Various styles of haircuts were achieved and everyone had a lot of fun.








Henry, father of 5 said “I have 5 children and will now be able to cut their hair which will save a lot of money”
 
“When I find a husband, I will be able to cut his hair but in the meantime, I will practice on my friends” explained Sarah.
