Japanz Kidz

Japans Kidz meets weekly, with the purpose of teaching children with Japanese heritage, about the language and culture of Japan.

The group is run by interested parents and the focus is on helping the children
learn about Japan and its culture through activities such as playing games, reading, writing, listening and conversation.

Through participation in the Japanz Kidz sessions, children of 4 years and older, are able to have basic Japanese conversation and can read and write the Japanese alphabet: Hiragana and Katakana (this applies to the over 5 year olds).

Children are able to recognize a connection with Japan, be interested in Japan, learn Japanese culture and express their thoughts in Japanese whilst at the same time acquiring an international sense of living in New Zealand which is so far away from Japan.

Japanz Kidz meets on the first, third and fifth Saturday of the each month, 1pm – 4pm, during term time. They group meets in members’ homes.
Japanz Kidz is grateful to the Nelson Multicultural Council and Settling In, Family & Community Services for their support.
