MC Youth Day

MC Youth Day at The New Hub on 8 October was a fun and informative event! Organised by NMC management committee members, Lu Batuigas and Tash Kara with help from NMC coordinator, Evey McAuliffe and NMIT second year social work student, Dev Mehta, the day got off to a flying start with a Nelson version of the Amazing Race! Four teams of young people from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Belgium, Holland, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Myanmar and USA raced around the Nelson CBD finding out information about Nelson.
 The winning team were delighted to be awarded vouchers for State Cinema, Stefano’s Pizzeria, Mumbai Mexico, Penguino Ice Cream Café and Mcdonalds! A big thank you to all these businesses for supporting this event!
Once everyone had caught their breath and had a bite to eat, Evey explained how the new reporting system for racist incidents, Speak Out Nelson Tasman, can be used.
The day ended with a fun quiz with spot prizes, thanks to NMC.
