Staff Members Evey McAuliffe, Co-ordinatorOriginally from Ireland, Evey travelled extensively before settling in New Zealand in 1986.She loves living in Nelson and is passionate about the work of the Nelson Multicultural Council. As co-ordinator, it is her job to ensure that there is enough funding to pay the overheads and salaries so that the organisation can continue its work. She also works at a strategic level, meeting regularly with government and non-government agencies to ensure the needs of migrants are met. Evey makes the most of media opportunities and organises some of the major events that raise public awareness of cultural diversity. She knows the Nelson community well, and is happy to share that knowledge in order to connect people to their community. She can be found at the Nelson Multicultural Resource Centre and is happy to meet newcomers as well as residents who are seeking information.
